Cool site offers all-access pass to government’s climate data

Global warming skeptics and activists alike no longer have to try to convince one another their data is correct.

There is now one universal source for worldwide climate data open to everyone.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s new Climate Services prototype Web site offers climate data from past and present, in addition to a full data library and predictions on long- and short-term effects on the planet.

The Obama administration launched the service to provide user-friendly information that will help streamline adaptations to climate change.

Though the site is a little dry, I’m all for transparency in government and sharing whatever resources are available, so I am encouraged by this effort. It will be interesting to see how the prototype grows and improves by the time it is fully up and running (expected by the start of 2011).
